Floating Flora Luminaire

This project required students to design something that produces light of any kind. I chose to explore the idea of creating an LED grow lamp that functions effectively but is still aesthetically pleasing and modern. Each rope weaved through the body are adjustable to accommodate plant growth, and there is a removable drainage dish to protect the wooden hardware.

Users of this lamp are people interested in growing plants but lack the space and light. This user also appreciates a minimal contemporary design aesthetic achieved by combining simple shapes with natural materials. Many of the indoor grow lamps currently on the market do not incorporate this sensibility.
